I’ve tried to answer a few common questions here but if you have one unanswered, please get in touch using the contact form!

Do you offer better maintenance plans without hosting?

I may do this in future if there is demand, but I didn’t want the plans to get too confusing.

Most of the perks in Advanced and Premium are tied to my managed hosting environment and I can’t offer them separately.

Features which aren’t, like time allowances for minor edits, are not things smaller sites in the Essentials tier usually need. Being more budget conscious, it usually works out cheaper for customers on this plan to pay-as-you-go from the Addons menu, rather than pay a monthly premium for a service they won’t often use.

Do you include email services?

Email hosting is a specialist area in its own right, and I’m a web designer rather than an IT provider, so I don’t host or manage email services for clients. Most businesses already have a preferred solution, and many individuals are well served by providers like Outlook or Gmail.

For those who value privacy, security, and ownership – the same values that guide True North – I personally recommend Proton, who offer both personal and business‑grade email services.

Whichever provider you choose, I can connect your domain so you have a professional address ([email protected]). From there, you’ll manage your email directly with your chosen provider, who will offer far better spam filtering, security, and deliverability than anything I could host myself.

Can I upgrade, downgrade, and cancel my plan?

Absolutely! If you want to change or cancel your plan, just contact me and I will be happy to help.

A bit of a whistle-stop summary about doing so for peace of mind:

-> Cancellation will mean your site goes offline as it won’t be hosted anymore (unless you have arranged hosting with a new provider). I’m happy to send a copy of your site if you haven’t already done that, so you can take it with you. If you want support making that move, I have an Addon which covers migrations.

-> Upgrades and downgrades between my plans are free, and should not usually incur any downtime. They may take a couple of days as backend systems catch up. Migration support in these cases will be free.

What counts as a minor edit in your care plans?

That would be a small, non-structural change like swapping text or an image. I have to caveat here that this can amount to a structural change if it is large – for example, if you replace one paragraph of text with three – that’s going to alter how the page looks and I might need to adjust design around that. This would be a major, not a minor change.

Things like changing colours would also count as a minor edit, or adding a border (or removing one) – small jobs like that.
