Bricksons is a demonstration for Architects of all the things I write about in The State of Architect Websites in Birmingham – A Data-Driven Audit of 22 Local Firms’ Successes and Shortfalls (2026) and [TSAW] The State of Architect Websites: 18 Cannock Architect Firms (2026) Audit & Findings.
Between just those two audits:
- 44% of Cannock architects don’t have a portfolio. In Birmingham that’s 16%. Some that exist are under-used or poorly designed, both aesthetically and architecturally.
- 47% of Birmingham Architects have privacy-unfriendly site design, with cookie popups lacking DENY options and tracking that requires the pop-up to begin with; 44% in Cannock.
- 58% of Birmingham Architects have unclear CTAs (calls to action) slowing/costing conversions.
- PageSpeed scores were averaging 58 in Birmingham
Bricksons is being developed as a proof of concept (and perhaps a package site for those on tighter budgets) solving the problems I identify in my architect website audits.
Other problems that have come up are:
- Poor landing pages.
- Old designs.
- Non-responsive designs (rough on mobile).
- Mixing purpose of page sections.
With Bricksons, I’m developing a simple-to-use and highly-scalable portfolio handling responsiveness on all devices, with bespoke metadata and design, and build-in filtering systems to easily sort past work by date, type, value, etc.
It will also intelligently and correctly display the relevant post on location pages: e.g. a service page for “Birmingham” will show projects relevant to Birmingham, and Cardiff for Cardiff; same for posts, tightening local SEO and providing topic clusters Google can use for ranking signals as well as human visitors for relevance.
It’ll also be fast – a recurring problem with portfolio sites is they’re heavy, and sometimes not well optimised.
